  Suicide: The Forever Decision1

A PSC Workshop for Students, Professionals, Aspiring Professionals, and Laypeople.

Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

5:30-6:30 p.m. Caribbean House Great Hall.

Young people, students, and those in the health professions, especially medicine and veterinary medicine, are at risk for suicide. The more people who are trained to recognize the signs and to intervene, the more lives we can save.

In this workshop you will become acquainted with suicidology and be empowered to act. You'll learn:

  1. The myths and stigma about suicide.
  2. Why certain professions are at risk.
  3. How to recognize signs that a person may be considering death by suicide.
  4. What to ask, and why you should ask.
  5. How to persuade a person to get help.
  6. How to refer a suicidal person.
  7. If you are a professional, how to document your concerns and your efforts.
  8. What to do if someone you know dies by suicide.

1 million people die by suicide every year. No one is immune. If you or someone you know has ever thought about suicide or been touched by suicide, this workshop can help.

Registration is not necessary; just show up!
