Now & Then

by Hadijat Audu, MSI

So many pages, so many words
Reviewing and annotating, refusal of being bored.

So many faces, so many lives

Treating, recovering, another survives.

Now and then, the moments are one,

Now and then, a battle, an endurance run

The journey of a physician is a marathon.

Enduring the fatigue past midnight's sun,

Sustaining the day, and never feeling done.

So many lectures, so many words,

Reviewing and annotating, refuse to be bored.

Look at all these patients, all these lives,

That you you were able to treat, and yet another survives.

Now and then, the moments are one,

Now and then, the minutes are not always fun,

Endure the physician's race, endure it for the one.

Endurance is the name of this run.

Now and then the moments are one,

Now and then, a battle, a warrior's run,

The journey of a physician is a marathon.
